Today I want to correct a common misconception. Most people think that their lives will be worse off if socialism or communism were ever put into practice here in the US. All of our recent examples of communism failing are because of corrupt governments, and not because of the form of economy.
Around 3% of the population control over 95% of the world's assets. That means the other 97% of us control only 5% of the world's assets. Now even if we just took half of the resources from that 3% and redistribute it, our share of the resources would increase 1000% or 10X however you want to look at it.
I do feel people should make more or less money depending on their efforts, and cunningness; but it also seems wrong that some people are born into riches and never have to work, while some people are born into poverty and toil away their entire lives to barely make 0.01% the amount the people born into riches make without working.
Capitalism is something that starts out great. Everyone is equal, but then over the years people get bought and sold. Eventually it gets down to a handful of companies who own everything and control everyone.
I don't 100% agree with any economic system. I have never heard a proposed economic system that actually treats all people fairly. It makes me sad that in 6000 years (or more (I believe more) we haven't come far enough to prevent unnecessary suffering from bad resource distribution.
