Special Hump Day Edition

Well it's hump day, so today's topic is about humping. Immanuel Kant had the idea that sex in any form except for reproduction is the worst possible offense to someone's personhood. Generally, he examined this from the perspective of the male taking away the female's personhood, but it is possible to reverse the situation. Basically his idea was that the act of sex was done purely for pleasure, and when you have sex the other person becomes thought of as an object whose only purpose is your pleasure.

Any thoughts on how to alleviate this problem? Maybe cuddle afterwards?

  1. I'm failing to see the issue here. Man and women have been making booty calls since the creation of the telephone if not before then.

The thought of the other partner becoming an object of pleasure may be true but it would be temporary, at best, during the act.

Here's some food for thought. Even dolphins have sex for fun. It's not just a human condition to want to have sex for pleasure instead of reproduction.

  2. The problem with the dolphin example is that the dolphin's are merely pleasure seeking creatures to begin with. If you want to argue that humans don't have free will then this argument does become irrelevant.

Also, it is not just during the act that the partner is treated as an object, but any time you feel lustful towards that person is a desire to use them as an object. And lets be honest here, as males, how often are you not lustful? :P

  3. Wait so women aren't just here to make snu snu? My whole world is crumbling around me!

I would argue that many humans are merely pleasure seeking creatures as well. Ever see Jersey Shore?
